The knife holders are the connection between the knife and rotor in the machine and are used for mounting i.e. knife crowns. They mostly have a positive position where the knife can be mounted through a screw connection. Thereafter, the knife holder is also mounted on the rotor via a screw connection or any other detachable connection or completely welded. It is most important to design and manufacture this particularly accurately, as the precise cutting gap and thus the result and the quality of the final product depend on a uniform geometry .Also knife holders are subject to constant wear in the machine, which is why they have to be regularly replaced and serviced. Since the installation of these systems is usually very time-consuming and thereby costly, we try to keep life as high as possible by choosing the optimal material and appropriate heat treatment. Even by the technique of welding an armor wear can be prevented the knife holders can be used in the machine longer.
